This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit or make an application from https://lendingroom.co.nz/ (the “Site”). This privacy policy applies to the Lending Room Limited (“we”, “us”), and details how we collect, manage and use personal information.
Information we collect from you
When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address, time zone, and some of the cookies that are installed on your device. Additionally, as you browse the Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, which websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. Additionally when you make an application, enquiry or attempt to make one, we collect certain information from you, including your name, address, email address, phone number, financial details pertaining to a loan application, demographic information such as postcode, preferences and interests, credit history, identification, bank statements and financial information. We refer to this information as “Applicant Information”. To enable us to assess your application for the service provided, process an application, carry-out our obligations in this agreement and if necessary, enforce our rights in this agreement, we need to collect personal information about you.
When you make an application through the Site, we will maintain your Applicant Information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information.
How we use your personal information
We use the Applicant Information that we collect generally to fulfil and assess any applications placed through the Site, and additionally to;
- Communicate with you and use during assessment processes;
- Assess credit worthiness;
- Screen our applications for potential risk or fraud; and
- When in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services;
By using our online system, you acknowledge and accept that the Lending Room Limited may:
- Collect statistical data of your online usage
- Collect data from other sources, such as, but not limited to – Credit Bureaus, your bank or banks (present or past), Government agencies (for eg. NZ Transport Authority, Dept of Internal Affairs, Motor Vehicle Register (name and address), PPSR) for a purpose related to your application for credit, or administering your account with us.
- Retain collected data which is available to the Lending Room’s Limited’s employees or other relevant people or organisations involved (as listed above)
- Retain collected Personal Information supplied until you notify us you wish for us to remove your Personal Information.
You authorise us to disclose Personal Information about you to your employer, credit bureaus and debt collection agencies in the event of any default in any sum owing to us, and also to any third party making an authorised enquiry about you.
How we store your personal information
All Personal Information that is being collected, is held by the Lending Room [6, Findlay Street, Ellerslie, Auckland, 1051]. We keep your Personal Information secure by taking reasonable steps to protect it from loss, unauthorised access, use, modification and disclosure. Your information is protected by using physical, technical and administrative security measures to reduce the risk of loss, misuse, unauthorised access, disclosure and alteration. All safeguards are in palace to comply with the Privacy Act 2020. If is it necessary for us to share your Personal Information with a third party, as disclosed in this privacy policy, we will do everything reasonably within the power of our agency to prevent unauthorised use and unauthorised disclosure of the information.
Who we share your information with
We share your Personal Information with third parties (if necessary, also third parties outside of New Zealand) to help us use your Personal Information, as described above. - Other companies or individuals who perform checks (such as but not limited to compliance reviews and audits);
- Product providers (such as but not limited to lenders and insurance companies); and
- Financial advisers and financial advice providers who may use our service
We may also contact your employer or accountant to confirm your income, in line with our service and the Privacy Act 2020.
Finally, we may also share your Personal Information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful request for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.
Internet use
We collect Device Information using the following technologies:
